Cacao, Sound + Fire Ceremony

A seasonal gathering on the equinoxes and solstices

Four times a year, as the earth turns through her great solar doorways, we gather to honor the shift. These cacao ceremonies follow the solstices and equinoxes, timed to the full or new moon nearby, when the energy is ripe for release and renewal.

Each gathering is a two-hour somatic ceremony designed to open the heart, settle the nervous system, and let go of what no longer serves. There is a rhythm to our lives that often goes unnoticed in the noise of the modern world. These seasonal turning points invite us to pause, to feel where we are, and to move consciously into the next chapter.

We open the autumn season just after the equinox, beneath the Harvest Moon, the brightest and most golden moon of the year. This year, she rises in Aries, a fiery and dynamic energy that asks you to turn toward your own needs and clear out what has grown stagnant. As the light shortens and the season turns inward, we gather to bring in a harvest of our own.

The experience: cacao, sound, and fire

This is not just an event. It is a two-hour ceremony designed to move you out of the looping thoughts of the mind and back into the wisdom of the heart.

A cacao opening

We begin with ceremonial cacao, a warm and gentle heart-opener that helps the body settle, and the mind soften. It is a quiet way to arrive, to let the day fall away, and to come into the circle together before the sound begins.

An immersive sound journey

From there, we move into the sanctuary of sound. As a Certified Neurosomatic Intelligence Practitioner and Vibrational Sound Therapist, I curate a field of frequency using crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and voice.

The sound works directly with your nervous system, inviting your brain waves to slow and your body to soften. It is a sonic exhale that lets you process transition, grief, or stress at a pace that feels safe for your body.

A fire ritual

Once we are settled and resonant, we move to the fire. Fire is the great transformer. Working with the specific medicine of the season and the moon we gather under, we engage in a release ritual. You will have the opportunity to externalize what has run its course, an old story, a heavy burden, a way of being that no longer fits the person you are becoming. We offer these to the flames, clearing space for what wants to grow in the coming cycle.

Why seasonal ceremony matters

We are all being stretched and shapeshifted by the speed of life. The solstices and equinoxes are the earth’s own markers of change, and meeting them in ceremony gives us a container to do the same. It lets us stop, take a breath, and tune into that still, small voice that is always guiding us.

These gatherings are potent. With the energies we are working with and the alignment of the earth beneath us, what moves through the room can run deep. Come ready to be met by it.

What to expect

A settled nervous system, a quieter mind, and a renewed sense of belonging to yourself and the Earth. Two hours of dedicated, intentional time for your soul to catch up with your body, held in a grounded and compassionate space in Onalaska, where the land itself supports our work.

Reflective soul-note:
As the season turns and the moon rises full, what are you ready to set down so something new can grow?

What is ceremonial cacao, and how will it affect me?

Ceremonial cacao is pure cacao prepared as a warm drink, used for generations as a gentle heart-opener. It is not a psychedelic and will not alter your state. Most people feel a soft warmth, a settling, and an easeful sense of presence. It does contain a small amount of natural caffeine, so if you are sensitive, that is good to know going in.

No. You do not need a spiritual practice, meditation experience, or any background in sound. You only need a willingness to arrive and let yourself be supported. Angela guides the evening gently from start to finish.

After the sound journey, we gather at the fire to offer what we are ready to let go of. You can bring a written intention, a small token, or anything made of natural fibers. Please keep it natural fiber only, nothing synthetic or treated, so the fire stays clean and safe.

Yes. Every gathering at GlassWing Medicine is held within a trauma-informed framework. Nothing is forced, and there is no expectation to perform healing or share more than you wish. The pace honors your nervous system and what your body is ready for.

Futons, bolsters, and light blankets are provided. Please bring a pillow or an extra blanket for your comfort, a journal if you like to write, and anything of natural fibers you would like to offer to the fire. Comfortable clothing you can move and rest in is best.

The ritual is held in person at GlassWing Medicine in Onalaska, WA, about an hour from Olympia. The full address is shared after you book.
